About
Meditation
The meditation class has the capacity to have a profound effect
on daily life. It can bring you into contact with a deep reservoir
of peace and harmony.
There are different techniques taught and through experience we
learn which method suits us personally, to be able to repose in
a deeply relaxed state out of which we can draw energy and perspective.
Awareness of breath and mantra
are two popular methods we use to focus on and calm the mind. We
learn to combine the breath with a mantra, e.g. Om or So Ham "I
am that".
Another very popular technique is Trataka - concentrated
gazing on a candle flame. Practiced regularlly it develops concentration
which is a vital preliminary to meditation. Walking meditation and
the use of a mala are also other options.
A
traditional buddhist love poem:
In the future, happy
occasions will
come as surely as the morning.
Difficult times will come as surely as the night.
When things go joyously, meditate
according to the Buddhist tradition.
When things go badly, meditate...
